Marsha: Hello. Everyone! And welcome back to another Character Reviews installment! I'm Marsha, and I will be reviewing a Friendship is Magic episode! In this episode, we see how Diamond Tiara managed to get reformed in a believable way, and it shows how controlling her mom really is. Yeah, the scepter has the head of Spoiled Rich, who is DT's mother. I know what you are thinking… At first, I honestly hated Spoiled Rich for being so controlling. But I do think ponies can manage to reform. Diamond Tiara did, and I know Starlight would later on. Even if her reformation pretty much came out of nowhere in that finale. Like, just came at the last minute basically. So yeah, without further ado, let's get into the review for the Friendship is Magic episode, Crusaders of the Lost Mark. Obviously doing the description first. Oh right, and I know Loleta already reviewed this one a while ago, but I wanted to do my own take on it too. So, there you go.

Episode Description[]

Marsha: So we start this episode with the cutie mark crusaders trying to find something to earn their soon-to-be signature cutie Marks. As they are finding out, the school is having a class president debate. We then see them all persuade Pip to win, as he is going against Diamond Tiara, which even includes a musical number about getting the class to vote for Pip. And pretty soon, the results came out, and Diamond Tiara lost the vote. Even Silver Spoon couldn't resist to vote for Pip. DT then runs off, and when the CMCs check up on her, it turns out that she has a controlling mother. This leads to Diamond Tiara having a musical number of her own, wishing she can be a different pony. The crusaders bring in DT to talk to her. And as she is about to let it out, something about the votes is revealed. Diamond Tiara runs off, and the crusaders do another musical number… gee, this episode sure likes song. And they managed to get Diamond Tiara to change and stand up to her mom. The crusaders, after 5 seasons, finally get their cutie marks! And the episode ends as we are treated to one last musical number.

Review[]

Marsha: Before I begin, as I said, I used to hate Spoiled Rich voice being so entitled. But then I realized… Maybe she could change? If not being controlling, I could see her as a savage mom if she were to reform, like me. (Spoiled Rich voice) I'll admit, I was a jerk! But I changed! (normal voice) Now back to the review. I really like how it shines a light as to how entitled Diamond Tiara is. Before this episode, I just really hated her! But I'm glad that this episode manages to actually make me sympathize for her for once! I just wish that we could've gotten another Diamond Tiara episode after this, showing how she truly changed. (Spoiled Rich voice) Come ON! Yes she changed, but why not show how she is now that she is actually acting better! (sharp teeth) At least she was around, when the crusaders got their cutie marks. Something DT was teasing them about for the past few seasons. One thing that some fans seem to be disappointed about with this episode, is how the Crusaders could've gotten their cutie marks each one by one? I dunno, I was kinda getting that impression when the guy called it a waste in his season 5 ten words or less video. But honestly, it was kinda the point of this episode. We spend 5 seasons with the crusaders working together to help other ponies get their cutie marks, so it makes sense to have them earn the Mark's together. Admittedly, I do wish we could've seen more of Sweetie Belle singing, but hey. At least season 4 gave us that Sweetie Belle story. Honestly, my only nitpick with this episode… I do feel there could've been a better way for the CMCs to check up on Diamond Tiara. Like, it just took her leaving and going UGH to do it. Then again, even DT's friend kinda turned against her, so I don't blame the crusaders at all. And it does imply that Silver Spoon had been this way too, because she was just following along DT. At least they made up at the end, which was nice. This is still one of the best episodes of season 5. It shines a light on a pretty unlikable character, and manages to make her likeable. Sure Spoiled Rich was snobby, but I had a feeling she COULD change. I mean… Starlight did. So yeah, I don't have much else to say, other than I notice that this episode sure likes songs. And it does fit, since it is a big game changer for the series. And they even incorporate the fact they got these cutie Mark's in a season 6 episode! And if you were wondering, my favorite song was definitely Diamond Tiara's. Not only did it do a fantastic job at showing how she wants to be better, but that tone the song has was just… spot on. It is definitely one of my favorite songs from the show, it is that good. So overall, this was a fantastic episode that I would definitely watch again.

Outtro[]

Marsha: So that is it for this review! It is, again, one of the best episodes of the season. Honestly, season 5 as a whole is a pretty good one, filled with powerful episodes. We got an episode about Apple Bloom's anxiety about getting a cutie mark before the others, we got an episode with Twilight reconnecting with an old friend that was literally mentioned in the premiere… we even have the show's take on GRIEF for god's sake! So yeah, until next time, this has been another Character Review installment! I'm Marsha, and I am signing out! Adios!
